How Much Space Do You Need for a Bounce House?
"Will it fit in my yard?" is one of the first questions we hear from Augusta customers booking a bounce house. The honest answer is: it depends on the unit, and on more than just the footprint of the inflatable itself. Here's how to measure your space with the real setup dimensions of our most popular units.
Setup Area vs. Actual Size: Why They're Different
Every unit has two measurements: its actual footprint, and the larger "setup area" it needs once you add clearance for stakes, blower placement, and safe entry and exit. As a rule of thumb, plan for 3-5 extra feet of clearance on every side beyond the inflatable's actual size - that's the buffer our crew needs to anchor it safely and give kids room to get in and out without tripping over stakes or the blower.

Don't Forget Overhead Clearance
Height matters as much as footprint. Look up before you book: low tree branches, power lines, and roof eaves can all rule out a taller unit even if the ground footprint fits fine. Our All Star Obstacle, for example, stands 20 feet tall at setup - taller than most single-story rooflines - so it needs open sky above as well as open ground below.
Tight Yard? Consider an L-Shape Layout
Long units like our 48-foot All Star Obstacle don't always need a straight 52-foot run. Many of our larger inflatables can be set up in an L-shape configuration instead of a straight line, which can make a big course fit in a yard that isn't long enough for the straight layout. Mention your yard's shape when you book and we'll help you figure out whether an L-shape setup works for your space.
Ground Surface and Access Path
Grass is the easiest surface to anchor into with stakes, but we can also set up on driveways, patios, and parking lots using sandbags and weights instead. Whatever the surface, make sure there's a clear path at least as wide as a standard gate (36 inches or more) from the driveway or street to the setup spot - our crew needs to roll the unit through, not carry it over fences or tight corners.
Small Yard? You Still Have Options
If your yard is on the smaller side, you're not limited to skipping a bounce house altogether. Our Mini Lego and Mini Princess toddler units need as little as a 15x15-foot setup area and can even be set up indoors on a hard, flat surface - a good option for smaller yards, apartment courtyards, or an indoor toddler birthday party.
How to Measure Your Yard
Grab a tape measure or measuring wheel and walk off the length and width of your intended setup spot, then check for overhead obstructions by looking straight up along that same footprint. If you're not sure how to translate that into which unit will fit, send us your measurements when you call and we'll recommend options that work.

What if my yard is smaller than any listed setup area? Call us with your measurements - we may be able to recommend a smaller unit or a different layout that works for your space.
Can a bounce house be set up on a slope? Units need a reasonably flat surface for safe anchoring - a mild slope may be workable, but a steep grade usually isn't. Let us know if your yard isn't flat.
Does the setup area include room for parents to watch? The setup area listed is for the unit and safe entry/exit only - if you want extra room for chairs or spectators nearby, factor that in separately.
